A Week With Big Bass Studio

A Week With Big Bass Studio

June 8, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

I didn't expect Big Bass Studio to hook me the way it did. It's a fishing simulator, and I usually find those either too shallow or too fussy. This one lands somewhere comfortable in between, and I ended up opening it every night that week.

The core loop is simple: pick a spot, cast with a swipe, and manage the tension while reeling in. What makes it work is how readable everything is. The tension bar tells you exactly when to ease off, so success feels earned rather than random. Landing a stubborn fish after a long fight is genuinely satisfying.

Progression is gentle. You unlock new lakes and better gear at a pace that never feels like a chore, and the little catalogue of species you've caught gave me a reason to keep exploring. My advice: don't grind one spot dry. Rotate between locations and the game stays fresh much longer.

By day seven Big Bass Studio had become my wind-down ritual. It's not trying to be epic, and that's the point. As a calm, one-handed pocket game, it does its job better than most.
