Games That Respect Being Offline
Nothing kills a session like a loading spinner that never resolves because you've lost signal. So I keep a small list of games that work fully offline, and I add to it whenever I find a good one.
Turn-based RPGs and puzzlers dominate this list. They don't need constant server calls, and their design suits stop-start play. Adventure games with self-contained stories are another safe bet.
The trap is games that look offline-friendly but quietly require a connection to save progress. Always test in airplane mode before a long trip — I've lost progress the hard way.
If a developer bothers to make their game work without a connection, it usually signals they respect the player's time in other ways too. That correlation has held up more often than not.
