The Best Genres For One-Handed Play
A lot of great games ignore how people really play on a phone: standing on a train, holding a coffee, half distracted. So I started paying attention to which genres survive one-handed play.
Simulators and casual puzzlers win easily. They rely on taps and swipes, forgive interruptions, and don't punish you for pausing mid-level. Fishing sims and match puzzlers are ideal.
Strategy and RPGs are trickier. They can work, but only if the developer designs the interface for thumbs rather than shrinking a tablet layout. The good ones use big touch targets and let you queue actions.
Racing sits in the middle. Tilt controls free up a hand but demand attention, so they're better for when you can actually focus. Pick your genre by your grip, not just your mood.
