Picking A Strategy Game That Won't Burn You Out
Mobile strategy is a minefield. For every genuinely clever game there are ten that dress up waiting timers as gameplay. Here's how I sort them.
First, check whether decisions matter or whether it's just numbers going up. A good strategy game makes you weigh terrain, timing, and trade-offs. Iron Frontier does this well — rushing gets you punished.
Second, watch the energy systems. If you're forced to stop after twenty minutes because a meter emptied, the game is managing you, not the other way around. That's a hard pass for me.
Finally, play against the AI before touching multiplayer. A satisfying single-player mode tells you the core is solid. If the only real challenge is other players spending more time than you, look elsewhere.
